The brief
A 1930s semi bursting at the seams: three kids, three bedrooms, one bathroom every morning. Moving meant leaving the street they loved — the loft was the answer if it could take a proper master suite.
What we built
An L-shaped rear dormer under permitted development — confirmed in writing before we started. Steels craned through the roof opening, an oak staircase over the existing stairwell so no bedroom shrank, a full ensuite, and fire compliance designed in from day one.
The result
A 28m² master suite — bedroom, walk-in wardrobe, ensuite — and the morning bathroom queue gone. Eleven weeks, family living at home throughout, not a metre of garden lost.
