The brief
A young family in an Edwardian terrace with a dark galley kitchen and a dining room nobody used. They needed one big, bright space to cook, eat and do homework in — without moving away from schools and grandparents.
What we built
A wrap-around extension across the side return and rear: party wall notices served with both neighbours, twin steels so the whole rear corner opens without a post, underfloor heating in the new slab, three rooflights over the old side return, and a kitchen fitted by our own team around a 2.8m island.
The result
42m² of open-plan family living where the dark kitchen used to be — finished thirteen days ahead of programme, on the fixed price. The family reckon they use the garden more now the house opens onto it. 16 weeks, drawings to done.
